As we enter the third quarter, this edition reflects on the impact of the Council’s work undertaken during quarter two, from accreditation visits and the protection and professionalisation of the engineering profession through the implementation of the Identification of Engineering Work Rules and the Management of Enforcement Matters, to initiatives aimed at growing the register and reinstating previously cancelled Registered Persons.
The impact of ECSA’s work was further recognised by the profession through the South African Institute of Industrial Engineering (SAIIE) Award for Best Industrial Engineering Work Conducted in Industry.
In addition to this achievement, ECSA received an unqualified audit opinion, affirming the effectiveness of its governance structures, internal controls, and financial management practices.
Amid these achievements, ECSA bid farewell to Dr Franciska Bothma and Dr Teresa Hattingh, Pr Eng, who played instrumental roles in strengthening key operational and regulatory frameworks that enhanced ECSA’s service delivery to stakeholders and supported the effective execution of its statutory mandate. ECSA extends its sincere appreciation and best wishes to both Dr Bothma and Dr Hattingh in their future endeavours.
This edition also highlights key stakeholder engagements undertaken during the quarter, reflects on the increasing number of training academies, and provides guidance on the requirements for the 2027 billing cycle.
